Born in Armenia, Naira Barseghian majored in Industrial Design at the University of Fine Arts and Theatre in Yerevan. When she emigrated to the US in 1991, she enrolled in community art classes and soon became enamored in the process of throwing and hand-building ceramics. Her husband studied fine arts and sculpture at the University level in Austria from 1978-1982. Together, they made a home and formed the Sunland Studio which is right on the premises. Here, they colloraborated together on wood tables (with ceramic tile inlays), sculptures, and functional pottery. Their use of light and color is brightening my day.
