Two nights ago the Beadesigner International scheduled a talk by Kate Fowle Meleney on small scale electroforming for the studio artist. I've been smitten by this art form and Kate shared her wealth of knowledge on the subject including some wonderful tips and tricks. She has been plating her beads and vessels for nearly 20 years now. She brought the equipment and materials that she uses in her studio and explained the process step-by-step. She then gave a slide presentation of a number of artists who use electroforming in their work. There were many sighs and gasps as she moved through the powerpoint presentation. Here's a few of my favorites from Kate.
The piece on the left is by June Schwarcz (whose work is recognized as one of the nation's leading enamellists) followed by the work of Kim Vredenburg.
If you'd like to take a class in electroforming, Kate will be doing two separate workshops on April 9th and April 10th at the Lexington Arts and Crafts Socity in Lexington, MA. For more info, go here.
