Marvelous Monday

Susan Remnant creates bold, contemporary enamelled jewelry.  I enjoy her sense of the bold and sculptuural.  Hope you enjoy and have a marvelous Monday!

Marvelous Monday

"Each metal piece tells a story. Whether it is thought provoking phrases, soothing affirmations, or ancient symbols, my work speaks of how I feel whether the design is ultimately a pair of earrings, a necklace, or a bracelet."  - Tish Collins

Tish began her journey with art jewelry via beads and polymer clay.  Although her path has changed over time,  they still have a place in her newer work.  I enjoy her focal shapes, beautiful etchings, mixed metals and overall color composition.  I hope you enjoy and have a marvelous Monday!

Marvelous Monday

Today I'm posting about the many coats and colors of Annie Pennington.  I originally came across her work through a link on Jillian Palone's website.  Her resume is full of awards, exhibitions, teaching experience, publications and such with her most recent education being an MFA in metalsmithing.  I recently learned she was hired as the Associate Editor for Art Jewelry magazine in 2011.

Putting all that aside, I am quite frankly in awe of her work.  Her choice of materials, color palette and shapes really excite me.  In this first brooch, her undulating waves of pierced copper move my eyes through colorful pathways  whose journey I don't want to end - it just keeps me wanting more.  Head over to her blog as well to see more of her work.  And check out the fabulous collaboration pieces she did with Jillian Palone.  Hope you enjoy and have a marvelous Monday!

Marvelous Monday

Birgit Kupke-Peyla's work is an exploration in texture and pattern combinations.  She utilizes laminated gold and silver sheet - carving into the gold to reveal the silver.  Utilizing a  multitude of ancient and modern goldsmith techniques, most of her work is hand constructed, architectural with precise aesthetic.  Hope you enjoy and have a marvelous Monday!

“I’ve always been very shape-oriented. I tend to connect to strong, quiet shapes.”
